READ! LS PLEBISCITE '08: YES OR NO TO ONE COURSE REP PER COURSE. [Jan 18, 21-22]

LOYOLA SCHOOLS PLEBISCITE 2008

TO: ALL LOYOLA SCHOOLS STUDENTS

The Sanggunian is proposing to amend the 2005 Constitution of the Undergraduate Students of the Ateneo de Manila Loyola Schools, specifically Article VIII which states "There will be one Representative from each block for the Freshmen and Sophomores, and at least one Representative for every program for Juniors and Seniors, with programs with more than 30 students having another representative for every additional 30 students..."

The proposal is to remove "at least" and "...for every additional 30 students" or to have just ONE COURSE REPRESENTATIVE per course, as compared to one for every 30.

The number of Representatives for every course for Juniors and Seniors, historically, has made it difficult for them to identify their jurisdiction. Also, certain programs have different tracks. These have ultimately led to operational problems in carrying out the vision and mission of the Sanggunian to form fellow students.

In a nutshell, a vote of YES to the proposed amendment would mean:
1) Reducing the number of Reps to one per course for Juniors and Seniors
2) Making the Reps more effective and efficient
3) A better Sanggunian

The plebiscite will be held on January 18 (F), 21 (M) and 22 (T). Comelec officials will go to your English, Philo, and Theology classes to officiate the process. There will also be polling stations at the CAF ATRIUM, CTC-SOM, and SEC A. All current Loyola Schools students can vote and are strongly encouraged to do so.
